CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct outlines the standard of conduct and behaviour expected of all members, instructors, and volunteers participating in New Horizons Music North York. It applies to all related activities. All members, instructors, and volunteers must comply with the Code of Conduct.
Principles
- Value, encourage and support each other in the pursuit of musical excellence and group performance.
- Act with professionalism to foster and preserve reputations as individuals and that of the organization.
- Demonstrate commitment by attending rehearsals and being on time for rehearsals and performances. Notify your instructor in a timely fashion when unable to attend.
- Treat each other with honesty, respect and courtesy.
- Recognise the individual rights and worth of each person, without regard to ability, age, gender, race, religion or cultural background.
- Model appropriate behaviour, act with integrity and objectivity, and take responsibility for your own decisions and behaviour. Act in a way that does not harm the reputation of NHMNY or past, present or future members. Be aware of and comply with NHMNY policies and procedures.
- Do not engage in or tolerate harassment, bullying or threatening behaviour.
- Avoid conflicts of interest, and do not use or take advantage of any NHMNY information or official duties for personal benefit or for the benefit of any other person.
- Respect and maintain the facilities where NHMNY holds rehearsals and concerts. If able, help with set up and take down of rehearsal and concert gear.
Should a member be found to be in violation of the above standards or to be engaging in any other conduct likely to harm NHMNY or its reputation, one of the following resolutions, depending on circumstances, may be put into place:
These include:
- i) a verbal warning to the member that continued failure on the part of the member may result in a suspension of membership on a temporary or permanent basis
- ii) verbal notice and a written letter informing the member of a suspension of membership for a period of thirty days, with a warning that continued failure on the part of the member may constitute grounds for permanent removal of membership in NHMNY.
Iii) verbal notice and a written letter informing the member of permanent removal from NHMNY.
